Farewell weekend

“At a certain level housekeeping is a regime of small kindnesses, which, taken together, make the world salubrious, savory, and warm.  I think of the acts of comfort offered and received within a household as precisely sacramental.”
writer Marilynne Robinson

“You’ll put a red dot on the ledger sheet and then a red dot on the bank statement...”
Dad

Thinking of parents who taught and taught and taught.  Mostly by example and sacrifice.  Heading to a new place, with new people to love.

School Song

Here are the girls doing the Quartz Hill Elementary School song. With actions!

Grant learns to ride a bike

One day I was in the house and I looked out the window to the back porch, and there was Grant, riding Jane's bike. Granted it does have training wheels, but he is only two! He had gotten himself up on it, and though his legs didn't really reach the pedals, he figured out how to shift his weight left, right left, ... and he could reach each pedal in turn.

Alpine Coaster

Sean and Rachel take a ride on the Alpine coaster. Everyone behind Carolyn and Jane [not pictured]...free rides!

Fastidious

Grant insists we keep the walls vacuumed.

"It would be an honor."

20th high school reunion

Sean pauses to soak in the Great Smoky Mountains. And admire his motorcycle.
